So, my parents have gotten back together and want to travel the US. I think it's a great idea. It's the perfect opportunity for both of them, and the timing is fantastic. Besides, my dad has quit chemo for a few weeks and has always wanted to travel (esp since his days in the air force).
However, that leaves me looking for a new place to live. I love the place I'm currently at, but lease is coming up.
Onto something different. I've started to realize I'm sabotaging my potential relationships. I haven't been on a date in... well, a long time. And it's not that I haven't been asked. Most recently was E and P (names changed to protect the innocent, lol). Both asked me out and I just never called them back. They tried, God bless them. Before that was Michael; same deal. I think I'm just afraid of being hurt and assume that every guy will hurt me, so I don't even pursue any relationships. To me, it just seems better to keep everyone at arm's length. And that's not just the guys. Family, friends, coworkers... everyone means everyone.
Well, that's all a little too honest for me. I better end this post before I admit to something really embarassing.
xoxo

article: the youths of today are not ready for the challenges of tomorrow
and another article...
Article: The youths of today are not ready for the challenges of tomorrow
"Today’s youth have expertly grasped the concept of instant gratification. From basic necessities to frivolous flights of fancy, all are seemingly within fingertip reach. The only challenge facing young individuals is determining which choice brings the most pleasure. How did the next generation become such an epicurean group?" (click to read more)

article: childhood abuse: how to move on
Here's another article I've written on Helium.
Article: Childhood Abuse: How to Move On
"First, if you are a survivor of childhood abuse, please stop blaming yourself. No one can control the actions of another, especially if you're a child. Next, you will be able to move past this. Just as you could not control the actions of your abuser, no one can control your actions and force you to move on." (click on article excerpt to be taken to discussion area and read my full article)
Happy reading! :D

article: are private colleges better than public colleges?
I've begun writing articles for a website called Helium. I'll begin posting small bits of each article here (you can always click on the links to be taken to the stories). Thanks!
Article: Are private colleges better than public colleges?
"Yes and no. To properly answer the question, the term "better" needs to be more defined. Better what exactly? Better afforded? Better academically? Better staffed?" (click to link to discussion area and read article).

first post
Here it is... once again... my blog.
Wait -where are the lights, the clicks of camera shutters, the thunderous applause? Just kidding. I've begun so many of these, it's become second-nature to code my daily ramblings.
For those who don't know me, here's a brief introduction on... moi.
My name's Chelsea. I'm a 24 year old living in the city. I work for the government and love it! Not just love, but adore. I wake up each morning excited for work.
Anyway, I graduated college cum laude last year with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. When I was in high school, I wanted to be an elementary school teacher and actually began my college freshman year as an elementary ed major. However, after two classes, I soon discovered that it wasn't the career for me (and I gained a ton of respect for educators everywhere).
I immediately changed the eled major to my long-pursued dream of anthropology. My goal was cultural anthropology with an emphasis on Egyptology. I spent a year studying, learning German and Arabic so I could read the relevant articles, learning ancient hieroglyphs... unfortunately, I discovered that my dream to work in Egypt would be difficult seeing as few anthropologists (especially fresh ones) were needed in the arid region.
So, again, I changed my major, this time to Psychology. I stuck with this for two years and eventually graduated after a total of five years in college. Three months after graduating and completing my internship, I got a job working in the government. I'm planning on going to graduate school to get my master's and eventually a Ph.D. or Psy.D. (in either forensic psychology, criminology, or criminal justice). I would love to work with the F.B.I. or C.I.A. (one of which is willing to hire me, but I've turned them down for now as I love the company I'm currently with).
Well, that's my professional life. On a more personal note, I love to write (fiction especially- if you're really nice, I may let you know what my name is on fanfiction.net so you can read my work), read (currently reading "Criminal Behavior" by Bartol), listen to music (modern rock), develop webpages, workout, surf the web...
I'm an opinionated person and incredibly stubborn (my family would vouch for that). However, I have a deep sense of empathy and care about people.
Religion. I have a strong stance on religion, but I'm not close-minded. I am a Christian. Contrary to the stereotype, I love hearing other points of view on religious matters (providing I am also given an opportunity to express my opinions). I believe that regarding certain positions, lines are blurred and/or fuzzy. My family is incredibly diverse regarding religious views as well; my great-grandmother was foot-washing Baptist, my brother was Wiccan, my mother is Taoist, my older sister is atheist, and my younger sister is five-point Calvinist. While I don't have a certain denomination, I attend a community church (when I go), and do not wholly agree with non-denominational.
Anyway, I'm currently looking for a second job. Maybe something online as a proofreader, tutor, or writer... we'll see.
Let me know what you think, if you have questions, etc.
